http://www.venomgfx.com.ar/makingof/quick_modeling_fish.avi (Xvid, 33mb, AVI)
Archivo .blend:
http://www.venomgfx.com.ar/makingof/sillyfishy.blend
Pablo.

i really like your characters. i want to know more about your lighting system. however it is not in english.
could you please give me an alternative link.
i love to shade like that

Hi nawabz!,
would you please tell more about what you want to know about the lighting system? is the one used in the video above? because it’s a really easy one, just a few linked lamps with the same intensity and shadow buffer, and an extra one as key light, and thats it!, were you talking about this or another work?
2007-12-18 16:27:13
Wow.
I started using Blender just some days ago… I’m amazed by your work, congratulations. Keep it up!

Hi. I love it. I am new to modeling in this fashion. I would love to see an actual video on how you did this. Some of it is so fast and alot of it you do that we cant see. I especially need help with the mirror modeling modifier that you use so well. I cant seem to get over the fact that there are two spheres where before there was one. The second one gets in the way and I cant get rid of it without turning off the mirror entirely. Really, a full video with audio is called for here. Could you do it in English?

Hi John, most of the work in this video is done with basics tools like Extrude (E Key), Loop Cut(Ctrl+R), Shrink/Fatten (Alt+S).
At 3:04, the Sphere that I use for the eyes is not mirrored, it is a linked copy, you can duplicate an object so this copy uses the same Mesh information than the original, the shortcut for this is “Alt + D” (as opossed to the common duplicate tool that is Shift + D). After I duplicate the sphere, I translate it along the X axis (you can do this with “G” (grab) and “X” (the axis)), and then I do a simple rotation over the object’s center, pressing “R” twice.
I used to model without the mirror modifier unless the character was really complex, but it saves you lot of time and you can apply it for later deformation to broke the simmetry.
I hope this helps you.

fucking fascinating. I love CAD but haven’t done it in years… you are very talented.

Hello again and thanks for responding. I wasnt talking about the sphere for the eyes, I was talking about the one that is created when you apply the mirror modifier to the basic mesh which you do in fact use in the video. In the video, you do not show us that you applied one (mirror mod.), but you did. Also, you were able to delete it after you extruded the eyes and apparently you were able to continue using the mirror modifier – check the video for yourself. When you delete the back faces or vertices of the inner extruded eye, the second sphere disappears! How did you do that and keep the mirror modifier active???????? You didnt say anything about a repeat in English either.
2007-12-21 07:58:26
Hi John,
I think I still don’t get it.. there is no Mirror modifier until minute 3:16′, before that time is all modeled by hand selecting the same vertices in both sides. As you can see in minute 7:18′, the mirror modifier is still there, I didn’t apply it till the end of the video.
A full video repeat with audio in english? let’s wait what the other people say about
